Personal Hero I have no Personal Heroes, but I DO have people I admire:

Joan Benoit Samuelson (genuinely nice and very gracious in person)
Stan Musial (gifted athlete, and has a lot of class)
Muhammad Ali (controversial, outspoken, and, I believe the most Outstanding Athlete of our generation)

Why I run I run mainly because I like the way I feel AFTER I run…refreshed, rejuvenated, and energized.

Inspirational Quotation

Steve Prefontaine: "A man can fail many times, but he is not a failure until he begins to blame someone else."

For Life: “Don’t tell God you have big problem, tell your problem that you have a big God.”

Brief Running History

Started “jogging” on my 30th birthday.
Completed 36 Marathons and dozens of shorter distance races.
I was the only American to compete in the 2005 Marabana, the Havana (Cuba) Marathon. Since I could not drink the local water, which was ladled from 55 gallon drums, I survived (barely) by eating the oranges provided at each aid table.
