A Hearty Thanks to GWTC

Editor's note

So many people give generously to support GWTC's Chenoweth Fund. The Pot Luck Bash is one time when we all can gather and celebrate our local athletes. Why is this important, well this letter from Wakulla High coach Paul H

David: Just wanted to drop you a note to say "THANKS!!" to you, the Chenoweth Committee members and the board of directors for the grant you all approved for our Cross Country team for the purchase of warmups. We got them in and issued to the kids prior to the Panhandle Championships and the team looked great!! I can't tell you how much they meant to the kids! They are so proud of them! A few of the parents bought warmups so with the grant we were able to buy enough to ensure that every runner we took to the Panhandle's, whether "varsity" or "JV" , was able to be issued a warmup. They looked and felt like a team. It has really been a boast to their self esteeme and the way they look at themselves as athletes and their sport. In fact, on the first cool days last week, most of our runners wore their warmup jackets to school!

We simply couldn't have done this without GWTC. There was no internal budget to cover warmups and it wasn't reasonable to burden our parents with the cost. If it hadn't been for you all, it just wouldn't have happened. As a board member, I remember voting on numerous Chenoweth requests and thinking I understood how important they were, but you can't get a real feeling for it until you are on this side of a request! The grant was truly a blessing and I am eternally grateful. Our kids will wear the warmups with pride for years to come.

Thanks again!!!
