| History of the Springtime 10K Road Race | |||||||
| The race history can be traced back to a 4-mile fitness run held in 1976 which took place on the south side of the FSU campus on Bradford Road. The following year the race was renamed the Tallahassee Springtime 10,000 Meter Run and moved to the downtown area. This course both began and finished at the present start location on Monroe Street. In 1983 it was decided to alter the part of the course that runs through the Myers Park Neighborhood and finish the race up Calhoun Street. 1983 also marked the first year that the winners of the masters division was recognized. In 1993 the One-Mile Fun run was introduced with 235 participating that year. The Springtime 10k course remained unchanged until 1997 when the last half mile was altered to remove the up hill finish. | |||||||
