AND NOW YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY.........

As most of you 40-something folks know, that is the classic by-line by Paul Harvey. I was reading the latest summer track update from Jay Wallace and in his own humble under-stated fashion he left out a few details along the way.  Jay came out to the track mid way through the series and proceeded to run a 2:21 half mile, just missing the GWTC summer series record by a couple of seconds and got out kicked by a couple of youngsters half his age.  Not to be discouraged, he came back a week later and ran a sub 5 mile, breaking the 5:04 45-49 age group record held by Tim Unger in 2007.  The following week he made it 2 for 2 as he put up a stupendous 10:43 2-miler in the heat and breaking the 11:05 set by Tim in 2005.  The rain delayed 5k came around and, as reported, it was an obstacle course running around the track.  Jay is the only person I know that can lap you and make you feel good about it by encouraging you at the same time.  I almost did a Zola Bud on him as he went by, but I felt guilty even thinking about it...and besides if he can hurdle the 8 year olds I don't think that another out-stretched leg would bother him.  Jay made it 3 for 3, running 16:57 and breaking Tim Simpkins' 1999 record of 17:03.  And now you know the rest of the story.
