Tim Simpkins: Update 2/15/01

Hello, Friends

Hope you are fine! I bet you enjoyed your running today. Another race is coming up. Give it your best.

This morning I had another blood treatment for 60 mins. The session went well. This time I spent all day sleeping because it left me very tired. These treatments really take me up and down with my energy level. I hope to be home next week before Feb. 25. It is too early to know just yet.

I have now gone 49 days without running. This is my longest break from running in 20 years. However, I will return to our sport later this year. I tell myself this positive thought every day.

My feet are much less swollen now that brother Mark greatly raised the end of my bed. You folks would be quite surprised to see me with big, fat feet.

Last night getting sleep was challenging. I went to bed at 8:30. Nurse came at 9:30 to get pulse, temperature, and blood pressure. At 10:30 nurse came 90 mins. too early with IV's. At midnight nurse returned at proper time with IV's. Sleep is indeed very elusive around here.

Friends, I enjoy your kind words. But I am not a hero at all. Your running buddy is scared, nervous, anxious and worried. Every minute and every hour I pray I can keep fighting the cancer. There is no other choice. I tell myself I will win this ultra-marathon. Please keep praying for me. I wish you all the best of everything!
