It was a beautiful cold crisp morning for a road race as 134 toed the start line for this year's 10 mile challenge. Except for running out of water at the 4&8 mile water stop, the race went smoothly. This year in the tradition of the Big Bucks race that preceded the Ten Mile Challenge, cash awards of insignificant value were given out. I didn't know that runners could be inspired so easily as to battle over a few bucks. Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the cold, the Sheriff's Dept., and the Killearn Acres Homeowner's association. This was my(Paul Hiers) last year directing this event as I step down to be replaced by Dawn Brown. I know that Dawn will do a great job in carrying on this important historical race.
