½ mile swim, 15 mile bike, 3 mile run

By Tony Guillen
Mission accomplished! The jinx is over! Bruce Lynn completes race. After getting sick during a race (IM Florida), getting sick before a race (St. Anthony's), and being misdirected on a bike course (Gulf Coast, no Bruce was not the third pro off the bike), he finally did it, and without a hitch.

The swim was a triangular course in the warm gulf waters. Luckily those of us in the first wave (39 and under males) did not have to contend with a loose buoy. God only knows how far the swim was for the second group. Some of them are swearing that they swam over 2 miles, I'm betting the current brought the buoy in and they swam 200 yards. Who knows? The tail wind on the bike was great, until we turned around. The first half of the run was really hot, until we turned around and ran into a nice breeze. Isn't that ironic?

Overall we had a great time and a lot of fun. In case you were not sure if getting your butt kicked repeatedly training in Tallahassee paid off, check our results below. Also a special congratulations to Dianne Perkins who finished her first triathlon, despite getting a flat tire during the ride
