1999 Young Achievers Track and Field Games Results

The Capital City Christian Cruisers Track and Field Club participated in the 1999 Young Achievers Track and Field Games in Jacksonville on Saturday, May 8, 1999. The youth performances were outstanding setting several club records and receiving many awards.

The midget boys 4 x 100 relay and Distance Medley relay finished first with times of 53.4 and 4:59.5, both club records. The two relays consisted of Cyrus Boykins, Marcus Sims, Kevin Bryant, Jamal Brown and Eliot Wright. The intermediate boys, James Cohen, Alex Colston, Tierroe Peterson, Ernest Sims and Willie Ervin, placed first in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays by setting club records of 45.9 and 1:38. Other outstanding performances was Andre Arnold who placed first in the Sub-Bantam Boys 400 meters and Laurent Carter who placed first in the Intermediate Boys Triple Jump, 40′ 11″.

The Submidget boys, Lenoris Williams, Jorge Molson, Destin Banks and Clayton Tudor placed 3rd and 4th in the 4 x 100 relay and the 4 x 200 relay. The Midget Girls 4 x 400 relay, Nadirah Gardner, Ashley Bennett, Tracey Rollins and Carla Burke, placed first with a record time of 4:55.31 and the 4 x 100 relay of Gardner, Bennett, Burke and Tedra Jones placed 2nd with a time of 57.25. Faleisha Ervin, Shawntelle Tucker, LaShaunta Arnold and Kia Deavins placed 5th in the youth girls 4 x 100 relay and Ervin, Arnold, Kristen Browne and Shannon Williams placed 4th in the Sprint Medley relay. The youth boys, Cedric Jackson, Devin Bryant, Anthony Jones, Rashad Brown and William Gay, placed 3rd and 4th in the 4 x 100 and Sprint Medley relays. Teddy Pye placed 2nd in the Open 200 meters and Sam Davis placed 5th in the Open 100 meters. Eboni Rolle placed 2nd in the Young Girls Shot Put. Tevin Bryant placed 2nd in the Sub-Bantam boys 400 meters and 4th in the 100 meters. Other youth that had outstanding performances were Lori Rollins, Eric Smith, Danielle Davis, Ivori Chambers, Michael Finney and Kierra Colston. Overall the club did an outstanding job. Congratulations to all the youth for their hard work. It really paid off at the meet!

The Christian Cruisers are scheduled to compete at the 8th BAYTAF Classic in Clearwater, Florida on May 29-30, 1999. Last years participates included 29 teams from Florida, Georgia, the Bahamas and The Cayman Islands.
