Summer Trail Series

The Gulf Winds Summer Trail Series originated in 2013. Each year, this 4-race series takes place on the most scenic and challenging trails in Tallahassee. Races start in an open area, but quickly turn onto mostly singletrack trail. Each course offers a little bit of everything: rolling terrain, single track trails, multi-use trails, and technical sections with rocks, roots, and tight twisty turns. This is a great off-road running experience!

Registration is limited to 150 runners.

Series Championship Awards: Series championship awards are presented at the last race. A point system determines the series champion. If there is a tie at the end of the series, the winner will be determined by the fastest overall time at the last run. Your best three races count towards the series standings. The lowest score of the four races is dropped.

Points awarded at the finish of each event:

  • 1st Place -20 Points
  • 2nd Place ‐15 Points
  • 3rd Place ‐12 Points
  • 4th Place – 10 Points
  • 5th Place ‐8 Points
  • 6th Place -6 Points
  • 7th Place ‐4 Points
  • 8th Place ‐2 Points
  • 9th Place & Up ‐1 Point

Race Age: Your race age will be your age as of the first race date. This will keep you in the same age category for the entire series.

Race shirt: One shirt is available for the 4-race series. Runners who pre-register for the series receive a race shirt with registration. Shirts are not guaranteed for late registration or single race registration (when offered). Additional shirts may be purchased while supplies last.

Course preview: Race directors often offer a preview run on each course the week before each race.

Water Stations: Water stations are set up approximately halfway through each course. Runners are encouraged to carry a water bottle at each event for hydration.

Packet Pick-up: Runners receive a new bib for each race. Numbers may be picked up one hour before start. Please do not be late so we can start the races on time.

Race History: Herb Wills has provided a recap of most every race in the Series. These can be found on his Trouble Afoot! blog (https://troubleafoot.blogspot.com/2021/08/gwtc-trails-4-2021.html).
