2006 GWTC Team Racing Is Up and Running.

The GWTC Racing Team needs runners of all abilities to join the traveling teams for the first events in 2006. The first team competition will be the 15k National Championship Gate River Run held in Jacksonville on March 11, 2006. Registrations are currently being accepted through www.active.com. GWTC will sponsor teams in four divisions with 5 members on each team for this event. The available classifications are Men, Women, Masters Men, and Masters Women. The fastest three runners are the scoring individuals. Individuals will need to have run a certified 10k/15k event within the last year in order to be considered for one of the top 1000 seeds for the start of this huge event. GWTC teams will be determined the week before the race based on pre-registrations entered on active.com. GWTC will award team racing singlets to all qualified team members who have not previously been awarded a team singlet for a team race. There will be a “GWTC team only” access area at the fairgrounds for folks to leave extra running gear. Be prepared to join other GWTC members for some post race pizza and beverages while waiting for the award presentations to some of America’s best 15k runners. Individuals must contact the GWTC Team Coordinator before the team entry deadline of Monday, March 6, 2006, to secure an opportunity to represent GWTC at this spectacular running event. If interested, please contact Tim Unger for team registration information when you receive your seeding card. We will need runners of all abilities to fill all the available team slots. Don’t delay, if you can FINISH a 15k send in your registration ASAP, and contact Tim today @ 562-2901 or ungertl@juno.com. River Run Race details are available @ www.1stplacesports.com

If you are planning to attend the Azalea Trail 10k Run in Mobile, Alabama on March 25, 2006; GWTC would like you to be a part of the GWTC racing team. GWTC will be sponsoring Men and Women’s racing teams. Azalea Trail Run team competition is open to runners of all abilities. Unlimited entries are permitted. GWTC did not field a racing team for ATR in 2005 and we are anxious to return to defend the back to back Open Men’s titles we won in 2003 & 2004. You can find details about the 2006 event on the Port City Pacers web-site @ www.pcpacers.org.

Please contact GWTC Racing Team Coordinator Tim Unger @ 850-562-2901 if you need assistance getting registered, or have any questions about any of the team events.

Stay tuned to the Fleet Foot regarding details for participating in future team racing events May 6th in Pensacola for the Fiesta 10k, and May 29th at the Gate to Gate 4.4 Mile run @ Eglin AFB.
