The Maclay Marauders went south to Coral Springs to grab two 1A state track titles on Friday, May 3. The girls team beat Lakeland Christian 72 to 62 to capture their fourth title since 1998, returning to the top spot after missing out last year. The boys team won their second title in three years by outscoring Upperroom Christian in convincing fashion 110 to 71.5.

Danny Pellegrino broke the state pole vault record when he jumped 15-09.25 for Maclay and then came back to win the 110 meter hurdles in 15.0 seconds. Tim Edmond won the long jump competition with a jump of 22-09.5. Josh Hollingsworth was the top distance runner for Maclay finishing third in the 1600 (4:30.85) and the 3200 (10:03.22).

Molly Jones led the girls team with an incredible performance winning state titles in the high jump (5-5) and triple jump (37-05), while taking third in the high hurdles (15.5) and fifth in the long jump (16-11.5). Her total of thirty points would have made her the ninth best team if she had been competing alone. Kara Newell wrapped up her distinguished career at Maclay by taking third in the 1600 (5:24.42) and fourth in the 3200 (11:54.24).
