“We would accomplish manymore things if we did not think of them as impossible.” VinceLombardi

I love this time of year. There is much promise and hope in the air. School kids are going back to school ready to learn and grow, there is anoccasional coolness in the early morning that provides that possibility of faster runs, and theracing calendar is starting to resemble a multiple choice exam. We have made it through the dog days of summer and can now start to see our goals coming into greater focus.

If you are new to it all and you are not sure what all of the excitement is about, GWTC members are stepping up as usual to help you out. So, you say you are not a runner, well come on out to the GWTC Beginning Runners Class to get the tools, training and support you need to complete your first 5k. Coaches Chika Okoro and Holly Parker will be out at FSU’s Mike Long Track on September 16that 6PM to kick off this year’sclass. This is trulywhat our track club is all about. So encourage someone you know to train for their first 5k or come on out and help Chika and Holly as they inspire a new group of runners.

On the hand, if you already have done a 5k but want to improve your times or target a longer racethen we also have something for you. Roger Schmidt and Tracy Taylor have put together what promises to be one of the best GWTC Tallahassee Turkey Trot Training Groups yet. Go to gulfwinds.org and follow the link to sign up forthe group starting on October 1stat 6 PM. There will be training plans, guest lectures, and plenty of socializing in preparationfor Turkey Trot. Look for the kick off social at The Edison on September 22nd.

This is going to be a great fall, I can feel it in the air!

See you on the roads,
Tony
