Former GWTC President Charlie Yates honored three outstanding GWTC members, Dr. Richard Husband, Jack Hanlon, and Ed Wolcott, with a contribution to the Chenoweth Fund.
The Chenoweth Fund is an endowment established by GWTC in the name of Dean and Jenny Chenoweth to express thanks to them for all their love and support of running and GWTC. Before their deaths in 1982 and 1987 respectively, Dean and Jenny showed boundless support for local runners. they sponsored the Turkey Trot (then called the Chenoweth 15K Race) and were active in GWTC and local races. The Chenoweth Distributing Company continued sponsorship of the race through 1989.
The purpose of the Fund is to assist local runners to achieve athletic excellence. In particular, but not exclusively, the Chenoweth Fund would assist young cross-country or track athletes.
In his letter to GWTC President David Yon, Yates said, “may the GWTC Chenoweth Fund continue to grow and provide benefits to the youth of this area for generataions not yet born.”
