GWTC member Breeda Dennehy Willis ran the 418th fastest 5000 meter race EVER run by a woman on Saturday, August 5. Her time of 15:12.83 was good for 5th place in the Nacht van de Atletiek meet in, I think, Heusden-Zolder,Belgium. Grete Wami won the race in a time of 14:30.88, less than three seconds off the world record.

Breeda’s goal is to compete for Ireland in the Sydney Olympics in the 5000 or 10000 meter race. Maybe even both. Her time will keep her in the top 50 performers in the world this year.
