The 17th annual edition of the Gretchen Everhart Owl Run will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28th, 2006. It will feature developmentally challenged athletes from Everhart, as well as middle school runners from throughout Leon County. All the action takes place on the athletic field and in the neighborhood behind the school, at 2750 Mission Rd., just west of Appleyard Drive.
The event will begin at 10:15 a.m. with a brief motivational talk to the athletes by Walter McCoy, the new Leon H.S. track coach. Walter, an F.S.U. Hall of Fame member and former All-American, won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in the 4X400 meters relay.
The Owl Run welcomes volunteers and spectators alike, and those who have attended in previous years have described the experience as inspirational and rewarding. Hope to see you there!

NOTE: Due to extensive construction along “old” Mission Rd. in front of the school, parking will be north of Mission, along either Peachtree Rd. or Appleyard Dr., to the west and east of the school, respectively. There is direct access to the athletic field from either of these two streets.
