I’ve looked over the 2005 racing performances for this year’s Gulf Wind Track Club Male Runner-of-the-Year. In thirteen starts he finished in the top ten in each time. These are top ten overall male finishes, even though the Runner-of-the-Year has been competing in the Masters division for more than a few years now. The races were over a wide range of distances — from one mile up to half a marathon — as well as on a variety of surfaces — on the roads at the Springtime 10K, on the track at the Breakfast on the Track, cross country at Miccosukee Madness, and whatever it is that you want to call the Pine Run. He was also the 2005 GWTC Grand Prix Champion, even after spotting his competitors a race by directing the Palace Saloon 5K instead of running it. This is part of a pattern of service to the sport; he also served as course marshal for the Region I High School Cross Country meet and worked at numerous other prep track and cross country events.
