Gulf Winds Track Club and the City of Tallahassee began collaboration on an “All Comers Track” program in the summer of 1978. Running events 40yd, 100M, 200M, 800M, Mile and 2 Mile; occasional field events included high jump and long jump. Results of 1978 and 1979 were published in the Tallahassee Democrat. This program, held every summer at various local tracks evolved into what is now our summer series.

In 1999 Dave Rogers organized the Summer Track Meet Grand Prix to provide an opportunity for those of us with an interest in the typical track events to compete and have our times duly recorded. Dave and wife Carmen dutifully recorded the times and scores through 2003 when Lisa Unger took over.

This year Dave Rogers, Bill Tharpe and Charles Futch updated the records and corrected the very few errors that crept in over time.

These records represent times recorded ONLY during the Summer Track Meet Grand Prix. Although several Club members have run better times in other meets, they are not a part of these records.

Gulf Winds Track Club now (2005) has an electronic timing device. It was used only on 800M, 1 Mile, 2 Mile and 5000M events this year. Any records derived through electronic timing are shown in ITALICS.

While the committee responsible for updating records were very careful in their work, mistakes may still be extant. If anyone recognizes any errors–that is, times that are not correctly reflected from the yearly results published in the Gulf Winds Web site, please contact Charles Futch with specifics.
