GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes

Present: David Yon, Felton Wright, Bill Lott, Jackie McDaniel, Tom Perkins, Seeley Gutierrez, Herb Wills, Mary Jean Yon, Charlie Yates, Jerry Chesnutt, Mark Priddy, and Judy Alexander

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the March minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

New Business

Mark Priddy – The 2010 Flash 12k/6k race had a net proceeds of $940.61. One half of the proceeds, $407.30, will be donated to the Chenoweth Fund. $126 was collected at the race as Chenoweth Fund specific donations, for a grand total of $533.30 donated to the Chenoweth Fund. The remaining $407.31 will go to GWTC.

Judy Alexander – Judy reported that the Springtime Tallahassee 10k/5k/1 mile race netted approximately $9,500. She will make a more detailed report next month.

Mary Jean Yon – Mary Jean reported that recycling has been available at the last three club races which were the Tallahassee Marathon/Half Marathon, Springtime Tallahassee 10k/5k/1 mile and the Palace 5k. The results have been positive. One of the recycle bins was misplaced or lost at the Palace 5k so the Club will reimburse the County $50 for the cost of the bin.

Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
Currently, there is $20.961.71 in the Club’s checking account, and $77,127.83 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth Fund has $16,923.79 and the Tri Club has $7,636.09.

Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,128 members in 599 households including 38 new members in 25 households this month.

Race Director Coordinator Report – Charlie Yates
Charlie continues to work with race directors of club and non-club races to schedule races for the remainder of the year.

Newsletter Report – Jackie McDaniel for Fred Deckert
No report.

Clothing Coordinator Report –Jackie McDaniel for Margarete Deckert
Margarete purchased 50 new GWTC automobile tags at a cost of $211. Member price continues to be $5 each.

Equipment Report –Jackie McDaniel for Vicky Verano
The equipment has been relocated to a larger storage unit at Ft Knox Storage on Highway 27. It provides more space and is a big improvement over the smaller unit.

Website Report – David Yon
David requested approval to purchase Adobe Suite for use with the webpage. A motion was made to approve the purchase, seconded, and passed unanimously.

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
David presented three requests this month. Michael Weyant requested $500 for the upcoming Redhills Kids’ Triathlon. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $500. A motion was made to approve the request, seconded and passed unanimously. Teresa Sancho, a representative from the Tallahassee Trail Blazers youth running club, requested $1,000 to assist the participants with expenses. The Chenoweth Committee approved $1,000. A motion was made to approve this request. The motion was seconded and approved by unanimous vote. Amlik Minnus’ mentor requested $588 for financial assistance to assist Amlik with expenses associated with running as part of the Tallahassee Trail Blazers. The Chenoweth Committee approved $33 and $88 which are entry fees to upcoming events. A motion was made to approve this dollar amount, seconded and approved by unanimous vote.

Robert Macdonald- Jerry Chesnutt for Robert Macdonald
Tony Guillen was named male K-Swiss Tri ambassador for the Tri Club and Colby Allen youth ambassador. Both will receive K-Swiss uniforms and shoes. Seeley Gutierrez is the female K-Swiss ambassador. The Gulf Winds Tri Club Grand Prix kicked off with Red Hills and the standings are listed on the Gulf Winds Triathletes website. The next meeting is on Monday, April 19, at MoMo’s. Gary Droze will speak on running techniques. At the May Tri Club meeting, K-Swiss will hold its demo day promotion for all members to try their shoe collection.

Prior to adjournment, Tom Perkins reported that the Sr. Games will be held at Godby High School on May 22. The 5k will be run on the track and it is for runners 50 and over. There will be additional track and field events held on the same day.

There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 8:39 p.m.
