All Time Favorite Race

Humboldt Redwoods Marathon
I had laid off from marathons for 17 years as I was consistently getting injured in ramping up mileage in prep. Mary Jean Yon encouraged me to try this one and it was magical. My wife Jackie ran her first half marathon.

Favorite Annual Event

Springtime Races.

Personal Hero

Have to be my Father who instilled in me, several character traits that I value

Why I run

Used to be: Pure competition with my buddies, and maybe fitness
Now: Basic Fitness(and keeping my dog happy)

Brief Running History

My running career began with the first Springtime Tallahassee race in 1976. Since then I have a run about a dozen marathons including a few trips to Boston(including the bombing); and all racing distances down to the Mile on the Track. While my early motivation was attempting to whip my buddies(predominately Bill Perry) I now mostly run for fitness and well being. I still enjoy some age group completion when my body allows and injuries are minimal!
