Following is a wonderful letter from Alex Miletich thanking GWTC (and the Chenoweth FUnd) for the scholarship he recieved. It will help members appreciate the good things their race entry fees and Chenoweth contributions do for the community.

~Jane Johnson, President June 30, 2003

Dear Mr. Yon and Gulf Winds Track Club,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the selection and recognition as the 2002 Cross Country athlete of the year and the associated scholarship. It is very gratifying to receive recognition from the established Tallahassee running community.

It is not by accident that in the state of Florida, the Tallahassee area has three Track and Field Championships this year out of a possible eight for the entire state of Florida. It is directly attributable to the dedication and support of our coaches, our parents and our community – the Gulf Winds Track Club – that area athletes have been able to excel. In a city of less than 200,000 people, area athletes compete on a level with much larger communities such as Miami and Jacksonville. Many areas of the state do not have an organization like GWTC and it shows.

The Tallahassee youth area athletes recognize the tremendous service that the Gulf Winds organization serves and provides to us – you are an asset to the community and greatly improve the quality of life for athletes of all ages by providing opportunities through scholarships and opportunities for competition.

It is a great experience to live in a city that has an organization like GWTC. Organizations like The Gulf Winds Track Club makes me proud to represent the Tallahassee area in competition, and I hope that you will continue to provide the great community services such as scholarships that encourage the progress of running disciplines.

Sincerely,

Alex Miletich
