The Furry Scurry 5k run and 1 mile fun run/walk will be held on March 22nd at 8:30 a.m. at the Tallahassee Leon Community Animal Service Center located on Easterwood Drive at the front of Tom Brown Park. The Furry Scurry is a combination of many different events.

Foremost it is a fundraiser for T.R.E.A.T.S. which is a nonprofit organization that supports the animal service center. It is also a 5k race that is challenging, if run fast and very picturesque, if approached more leisurely. This course is on the Goose Pond Trail, over some cross country wooded trails in Tom Brown Park, and over some wooden foot bridges.

In addition, there is a one mile fun run/walk that will be located on the new Goose Pond Trail. This makes it very baby stroller friendly and safer for our younger participants. Other delectable delights associated with this event include B.C. Kelly and the Music Express who will be entertaining us all throughout this furry festival.

Custom mugs designed by Brian Bachman will be the run trophies with some additional mugs for sale. The shirts for this event (which are always very popular) will be designed once again by local artist Ken Pease.

This year’s race will feature Instant Timing thanks to “Jo Lena Pace and the Fabulous Time Machine”. In addition to everything else there will be animal service center tours, a garage sale, and (as always) animals will be available for adoption. There’s even a fabulous door prize giveaway to keep everyone interested. All of this activity adds up to another grand furry festival. Contacts are Kate MacFall 508-1001 and Peg Griffin peggriff@istal.com. See you there.
