Gulf Winds Track Club members won the “Most Laps Run” Team Trophy at the Relay for Life 2001 held at the North Florida Fairgrounds on May 11-12.

Lead by team captain Tom Perkins, Gulf Winds team members officially ran 397 laps total in the 18-hour competition. Other GWTC members also participated by running and walking many additional “unofficial” laps at the Relay for Life event. In addition, GWTC team members raised over $1500.00 in donations for the American Cancer Society.

Gulf Winds team members and participants included: Paul Ahnberg, Bill McGuire, Jim Walker, Jack McDermott, Chuck Davis, Gary Kenney, Judy Alexander, Loranne Ausley, Jeff Bryan, Rolando Ramirez, Mike Sims, Bill Holliman, Rhea Vogelhut, Mark Vogelhut, Jeanne O’Kon, Robin O’Neil-Wann, Gary Griffin, and Peg Griffin.

The “Most Laps Run” award also included a certificate for a free outdoor canoeing or hiking trip for 18 people provided by Wald’s Outdoor Adventures. Team members will be notified when this trip is scheduled to take place!
