GULF WINDS TRACK CLUB Minutes

of the November 10, 2010 Board Meeting Hosted by Jackie McDaniel at the home of Mary Jean and David Yon

Present: Judy Alexander, Jackie McDaniel, Seeley Gutierrez, Jerry Chesnutt, Mary Jean Yon, Felton Wright, Bob Macdonald, David Yon, Herb Wills, Mark Priddy, Bill Lott, Charlie Yates, Gordon Cherr, Fred Deckert, Julie Clark, Bob Lotane, Nancy Shank, and Debara Jump

Judy Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. Quorum was established.

The Board reviewed the October minutes. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

New Business

Mary Jean Yon presented the final results of the election to elect club officers and directors-at-large for 2011. The results are as follows: President – Judy Alexander; Vice-President – Felton Wright; Treasurer – Jerry Chesnutt; Secretary – Jackie McDaniel. Director-at-Large Positions: David Yon, Lisa Unger, Herb Wills, Vicky Droze, and Seeley Gutierrez.

Gordon Cherr gave a wrap up report of the 2010 Pine Run. Net proceeds are $1961.27 with 50% going to GWTC and a request for 50% to be donated to Tall Timbers ($980.63 each). A motion was made to approve the request to make a 50% donation to Tall Timbers, seconded, and approved by unanimous vote.

David Yon informed the Board that it is time to renew GWTC’s Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) membership dues and insurance for 2011. There was discussion among board members as to what amount of insurance coverage the Club should have. The current level of insurance is $1 million; David will research the issue and provide the Board with recommendations.

Bob Lotane, Debara Jump and Nancy Shank, representing the Red Cross Robin Lotane Memorial Hurricane Run, presented certificates of appreciation to several board members and to the Club for their assistance in putting on their race in September. They also presented a check in the amount of $250 to David Yon as a contribution to the Chenoweth Fund.

Judy Alexander presented the Springtime 10k/5k/1 mile proposed budget for 2011. She proposed sharing profits from the race with the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Bend (BGCBB) and also with Treats For Teens. After some discussion, a motion was made to approve the budget. The motion was seconded and passed. David Yon abstained from voting due to the fact that he is on the Board of the BGCBB.

Treasurer’s Report – Jerry Chesnutt
There is $25,809 in the Club’s checking account, and $77,411 in a certificate of deposit. The Chenoweth Fund has $11,360 and the Tri Club has $4,600

Membership Report –Mark Priddy
The Club has 1,413 members in 786 households including 32 new members in 7 households this month.

Race Director Coordinator Report –Charlie Yates
Charlie is working on the 2011 race calendar. He will present the Board with an updated schedule next month.

Newsletter Report – Fred Deckert
Fred plans to create a questionnaire requesting input from Club members as to what items published in the Fleet Foot should continue and what things may be of less interest to members. He also invited comment on member opinions regarding the desirability of the print media of the Fleet Foot compared to the web based flow of information offered by the club’s web site.

Clothing Coordinator Report – Fred Deckert for Margarete Deckert
Margarete sold several shirts last month.

Equipment Report – Vicky Verano
No report.

Website Report – David Yon
No report

Chenoweth Fund Report – David Yon
The Chenoweth Committee received two requests this month. Mike Boza requested $750 to assist with funding the Senior All Star Cross Country Meet. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $750. A request from Gary Kenney, representing the Rams Running Club, was made in the amount of $500 to purchase jerseys for the Club to attend the 2011 State Middle School Cross Country Meet. The Chenoweth Committee approved the request for $500.A motion was made to approve both requests, was seconded, and approved unanimously.

Triathlon Report – Robert Macdonald
The Tri Club has approximately 300 members. The Club is working with the YMCA to create an off-road event to be held in the near future. Next Monday, November 15, is the member appreciation meeting and social which is held at MoMo’s Restaurant. January 17, 2011, the Club will present their awards at their monthly meeting.

Social Coordinator Report – Kathy Lindsay
Jackie reminded everyone of the Holiday party to be held December 18, 2010, at the American Legion Hall at Lake Ella.

There being no further business to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and passed unanimously at 9:07 p.m.
