October 12, 2005 Business Meeting Hosted by Jane Johnson

Board/GWTC Members present: Tom Perkins, David Yon, Beth Alexander, Hobson Fulmer, Fran McLean, Nadine Dexter, Bill Loft, Judy Alexander, Bonnie Wright, Fred and Margarete Deckert, Paul Ahnberg, Michael Pasquier, and Terry Massa.

Tom Perkins called the meeting to order at 7:48 PM and quorum was established. The September minutes were reviewed. A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous vote to accept the minutes as presented.

NEW BUSINESS: Bill McGuire submitted the election slate for 2006 which included Tom Perkins for President, David Yon for Vice President, Bonnie Wright for Treasurer, Beth Alexander for Secretary and the following members at large: Paul Ahnberg Judy Alexander, Nadine Dexter, Terry Massa, Mark Priddy, and Mary Jean Yon. A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the slate as presented. There were two dissenting votes.

REPORTS:

Race Director — Jane Johnson presented the budget for Women’s Distance Festival 5K on November 5, 2005. Jane indicated Optimist Park is reserved for the weekend; the race may have to be cancelled or moved. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the budget provided the venue is available. Fred Deckert presented the budget for the Ultradistance Classic 50K150M. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the budget as presented.

Race Director Coordinator — Beth Alexander for Charlie Yates reported his calendar is up to date. Two races, Shamrock Scurry and Furry Scurry, will share the date of March 18, 2006.

Treasurer’s — Bonnie Wright discussed the budget for the previous month. A motion was made and seconded to accept the budget as presented. It was passed unanimously. She also reported the Prefontaine 5K was resolved in record time.

Clothing Coordinator — Margarete Deckert presented information about a 4 inch patch with the club symbol. It is available in iron or sew on form. She also showed scarves. Both were tabled until next month.

Newsletter — Fred Deckert showed samples of a 2006 race calendar he drew up. This calendar contains all Grand Prix races, club races, and local races with pertinent contact information. Fred received lots of positive feedback. The cost of black and white copies are $0.50/calendar and color are $3.25. Most agreed the bigger color version Fred showed was desirable over the B/W.

Grand Prix Committee — Paul Ahnberg passed out the proposed Grand Prix race slate for 2006. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the slate as presented.

Training Committee — Nadine Dexter reported that her beginning running class is going strong with around 60 runners attending each week. She will hold the end of class party at her house on October 30 from 2-5 p.m. She invited the Board to attend also.

Equipment — Nadine reported for Joe Dexter who turned in various race fees collected. He requested a new bull horn. This request was put on hold until Old Business.

Chenoweth Fund — David Yon requested that the Magnolia School receive $250 to purchase team jerseys. Judy Alexander is the new coach and reported they have no funding for the track team. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously.

Membership — Brian Corbin reported that there are currently 911 members represented by 527 memberships.

Social Coordinator — no report.

Triathlete — no report.

Racing Team Coordinator – no report.

Lecture Series — Michael Pasquier reported the next lecture series is October 27, 2005. Joe Dexter and Dan Leadville will discuss their recent 100 mile race.

OLD BUSINESS: Tom Perkins reported that the cordless sound system Joe requested last month is $1200 to reach an audience of 1000-2000. This price includes wireless microphone, CD player, and 2 speakers.

There was a motion to adjourn made at 8:57 PM, which was seconded and passed by unanimous vote.

The next board meeting will be held on November 9, 2005 hosted by Beth Alexander.

These minutes have not been reviewed and accepted by the board.
