The GWTC racing season wrapped up on Saturday December 16, 2017 with a successful running of the Tannenbaum 6K race. One hundred and twelve participants crossed the finish line of the last GWTC race and the last GWTC grand prix race of 2017. Weather conditions were as close to perfect as one could ask – a start in the upper 40s and a high in the low 50s with no rain. Once again, Charlie Johnson (20:19) and Katie Sherron (22:46) won a club race. Carter Hay was the top master and only one second behind Katie (22:47). Kenya Rich was top female master (28:16).

The Tannenbaum 6K is of course run at Apalachee Regional Park. This was the seventh year the race has been contested. It has averaged 132 finishers with a high of 192 in 2015 to a low of 76 in 2013. Only two runners have broken the 20-minute barrier on the 6K course – Chris Lake ran 19:49 the first year and then Kevin Sullivan set the record for the race in 2012, running 19:35. The women’s record also was set in 2012 when Stefanie Slekis ran 21:56.
