Herb's View of 2017 Cross Country

by Herb Wills

The college scene –

The 2017 cross-country season is almost here, and Keiser University at Tallahassee has once again failed to field a cross-country team. I
have almost given up on them. However, three other Tallahassee colleges will compete in cross-country this fall; Florida A & M University, Florida State University, and Tallahassee Community College. Three isn’t a record by any means. For instance, you can stand on the MIT track and throw rocks at Harvard’s track and Boston University’s track. You could probably even hit those tracks with your rocks if one of the MIT students builds a rock-throwing mass driver for you.

Setting down the rocks, each of the three Tallahassee teams has posted a schedule for the coming season.

Florida State University (coaches: Bob Braman, Kelly Phillips)

Tallahassee Community College (coach: Gary Droze)

Each of those schools has at least one meet in Tallahassee this season. Come and cheer for the home teams!

Smooth trails!

After five weeks and six meets, Leon County Schools' 2019 middle school cross-country season is over. And just like each year since 2010, the season ended with the League Championship Meet at Apalachee Regional Park. When the NCAA meet comes here in 2021,...
